When 5 inch gutters make sense
Five inch aluminum gutters are still a common choice for many homes in current and expanding IO Gutters markets. They can be a good fit for smaller roof planes, simple rooflines, and projects where the existing system already handles water well but needs replacement.
When 6 inch gutters may be worth it
Six inch gutters can be helpful when a roof has long runs, steep pitches, large valleys, or areas where water tends to overshoot the gutter. They also pair well with larger 3×4 downspouts. The tradeoff is that larger gutters and downspouts usually cost more and have a stronger visual presence.
